Handheld Scanners Pictures

How often have you been away from your home or office and needed to scan a page or two of a book, magazine or article of some publication? Obviously it is not practical to carry around a big, bulky desktop scanner. Well, now there is a simple solution, in the array of portable handheld scanners that are available and are easily transportable.

Available from pen size to roller pin sizes, these nifty little devices can go with you to the library, book store, shopping mall, office or anywhere else that you might need to copy an article, map, photo or a few pages of a document.

Just imagine being at the library and rather than having to write down everything from a particular article, you could just pull out from your purse or pocket a scanner that was like a little magic wand that you can just glide over whatever you wish to scan and wa la just like magic it is stored in this device for you to later transfer it to your computer.

Well, welcome to the new world! Because they are here, they are great and what a convenience.

As I mentioned these come in a variety of sizes and styles. However, the most common is in a cordless battery operated wand like configuration that will allow you to scan an area as large as approximately 8 ½” X 50″. It stores its contents onto a memory card in black and white or in color, with a low resolution of 300 X 300 dpi up to a high resolution of 600 X 600 dpi. It also saves images as jpeg files. Almost any document only takes a few seconds to scan.

Pen scanners are strictly used for scanning and retrieving text. While the wand type scanners can copy whole pages including images and pictures.

For the most part whether you are looking at the pen type scanner or wand type portable scanner the prices will start at just under $100 dollars on up to whatever you would like to pay. For most people the wand type scanner is the way to go. However, we have not found a justifiable difference in the more expensive wand type scanners to the less expensive wand type scanners to substantiate the more expensive pricing.

The convenience to scan almost anything anywhere is probably worth it.

So where is the best place to buy handheld scanners? Well, believe it or not eBay is the best place to buy portable handheld scanners. eBay has become one of the most respected and most reputable online shopping sites. You will not only find most all of the portable scanners that you are searching for but you will find the largest variety of equipment for the best prices available on the internet. No matter what brand you are looking for, whether it’s HandyScan, VuPoint, NeatReceipts, Skypix, Iris, Brother, Canon, Fujitsu or whichever you will find new equipment for less money than you would find at your local office supply store and used equipment for even less. Yes, I did say used. Why not?

Think about this, how many times have you started a new hobby, gone out and bought brand new equipment and tools and then just used them a couple of times? Then store them away in your closet or basement. You can find a lot of slightly used equipment on eBay from just those situations.
